Post Categories can be added in two ways.
By selecting Posts > Categories > Follow prompts. Categories will then be available to select from the Post Edit screen.
From the WP Post Edit screen directly as highlighted below.
To add a Category from the Post Edit screen.
- From the sidebar, under Categories, click Add new category.
- Type in the Category name and click Enter.
The Category will now appear with any other existing categories and be checked by default.
Notes
All Posts must belong to at least one Category. By default, WP uses the “Uncategorized” category for this. Once you’re post is able to be assigned a new category, it’s good practice to uncheck Uncategorized.
